There are new fire TFRs near Me-Own and Beaverhead airstrips that keep increasing in size. Both are within about 5nm. One or more of the airstrips are being used for firefighting.
Please check with Gila Dispatch at 800-538-1644 before you head to the Gila airstrips.

Effective 4/28/25, the Gila National Forest is under stage 2 fire restrictions. Your aircraft needs to have a muffler to act as a spark arrestor, in my opinion.

Any stove fueled solely by liquid petroleum (i.e. gas, white gas fuel etc.) or liquid petroleum gas (LPG) (i.e.
propane, etc.) fuel is OK under both Stage I and Stage II. Stoves fueled by wood that are not being used in a
building or vehicle are prohibited under both Stage I and Stage II.

Forest Road 141 will be closed starting May 5th to replace the bridge across South Fork Negrito Creek.
This closure will last all summer. You can still drive from Reserve to Rainy Mesa Airstrip, but that is where the road closes. Negrito Airstrip will have to be accessed from the North, East, or South.

NMPA has a program to support small projects which will attract aviation tourism or enhance the visitor experience to NM airports.
