Rain Creek Trail # 189 is closed due to the nearby Sacaton Fire. It is part of a wider forest closure effective July 1st, 2026. For now, Sacaton Airstrip and the Rain Creek trailhead area appear to remain open per the closure map. A new TFR may be implemented over or near Sacaton Airstrip, so be aware if you plan to fly in that area.

The Gila NF will implement stage 1 fire restrictions on March 23, 2026.
With the exception of the Negrito Camping Area, only propane devices may be used at the backcountry airstrips.

Per NOTAM, T16 runway will be closed effective 3/16/26.

NMPA has a program to support small projects which will attract aviation tourism or enhance the visitor experience to NM airports.
