Hello NMPA members,
Per AOPA, the U.S. House of Representatives plans to consider the FAA Reauthorization bill next week. This is a huge comprehensive aviation bill that comes around only once every four or five years.
Representative Jay Obernolte (R-CA) and Representative Matt Cartwright (D-PA) have introduced a bipartisan amendment to require fair, reasonable, and transparent FBO fees at our nation’s public-use airports. The amendment is identical to legislation introduced by Senator Ted Budd (R-NC) in the Senate, which NMPA supported. All three of these representatives are GA pilots and they fully understand the issue.
Your NMPA Board of Directors supports this effort led by AOPA. AOPA encourages NMPA members to reach out to our respective Member of Congress in the House of Representatives urging support for the Obernolte-Cartwright Amendment to the FAA bill.
Several reference documents posted in this folder: 2023 AOPA Transient Ramp Fees including AOPA's letter and a Myth-Fact document which may help you craft your submission.
