You're Invited! The town of Mountainair, 36 nm southeast of KABQ, invites pilots to participate in Independence Day festivities. If you want to join a fly-over during the parade (at or above the required minimum 1000 AGL altitude), plan to be circling the M10 airstrip at 8000 ft by 10:15 AM on July 2nd, and listen for instructions on 122.9. Transportation will be provided to town for breakfast and/or lunch and holiday festivities from the newly graded dirt strip after the fly-over. A new tie-down area has been graded at the west end of the strip (still under construction), but bring your own stakes and ropes. Check out Jeff Gilkey's Obscure and Scenic NM column, describing scenic spots to check out on your way into and out of Mountainair. Arrive at 0800 for a breakfast run into town. OR arrive for the flyover and stay for lunch. OR alternatively, just come to join the flyover and head back home (without landing). Please register if you plan to land and go into town so we can organize ground transportation.
