Farmington KFMN – ROTARY FLY-IN, DRIVE-IN, DINE-IN PANCAKE BREAKFAST

An invitation from the KFMN Fly-In chairman, Gary Risley…

Come join us at the  Farmington Rotary Fly-in Pancake Breakfast.  We are offering great things for fly-in pilots and their passengers!

1. Pilots will receive a free breakfast and thank-you bag.  Passengers with the pilot may participate and eat breakfast for one-half price ($5).  Everyone on the field will be required to have a wristband to remain on the airfield or get breakfast.

2. Fuel
- Atlantic Aviation is offering a 75 cent discount off its posted fuel prices for fly-in pilots. Just show the line staff your fly-in wristband and ask for the fly-in discount.

3.  Fly Fishing and Lodging – Sleep next to the Quality Waters of the San Juan River.  Steve Gill, the owner of the Rainbow Lodge and Enchantment Hideaway Lodge, also operates a guide service on the Quality Waters of the San Juan River.  He is offering anyone who wishes to stay in his facilities or use his guides a 10% discount.  People travel from around the world to trout fish in the Quality Waters.  Many of the private jets seen on the ramp at KFMN are delivering the rich and famous who wish to fish the river.  (Don’t forget to tip the guides!)

In addition, the B-17, Sentimental Journey, will be in Farmington with tours and rides available.  The military will be bringing in a tilt-rotor Osprey and a Huey.  Helicopter tours will be available from Alpine Heli-tours.

We hope you will come to Farmington, support our fundraising event, and let us “Jolt Your Journey” with opportunities to enjoy the area for the weekend.

Yours truly,

Gary Risley, Chairman

THINGS TO DO:

Aztec Ruins National Park

The “Middle Age” of the Anasazi Culture resided here in the three rivers area of San Juan County.  The ruins and reconstructed Great Kiva as Aztec National Park offers great insight into this once prosperous culture which mysteriously disappeared.  More information is available at https://www.nps.gov/azru/index.htm.

Flying Tour of Chaco Canyon Road and Other Sites

We are working with Rotary Club member Doug Dykeman, a retired archeologist, to provide you a self-guided tour to view the ancient road that led from Chaco Canyon to the Four Corners area along with other ancient sites that can be enjoyed from the air.

We intend to provide you with a map with waypoints, a list of lat/long locations of the waypoints, and a mp3 audio file that you can stop and start as your reach each waypoint.  The audio will describe the history of each site marked.
