Subject: BRG Runway Maintenance

To all,

It looks like we will begin the pavement maintenance on Runway 13/31 at Belen on June 10. The first phase of the project will involve work from the approach end of 31 up to Twy A, allowing Runway 3/21 to be used for about the first 5 days. When the first phase is completed and we begin working past the intersection of the two runways, both runways and taxiways will be closed for the remainder of the project. The contractor has 21 days to finish the project, but it will likely be done early. If you need to move your aircraft to another airport, please make arrangements early. Once Rwy 3/21 is closed, no air traffic other than helicopters will be able to use the airport. I will send out updates and any changes to the schedule as they become available. Call or email me if you have any questions.

Thank you,

John Thompson, C.M.

An update from Belen. . .  received 6/6/19 at 9:25am

To all,

I just received an update this morning on the pavement maintenance for Rwy 13/31. The start date has been postponed 1 week due to the availability of a subcontractor to perform the rubber removal. The project will now begin on Monday, June 17.

Continue to monitor NOTAMs for Belen Alexander Airport.
We received this update
Friday, June 28, 2019 6:32 PM

To all,

The full length of Runway 3/21 and Taxiway A have been reopened. There is still some striping work being completed on Runway 13/31 and Taxiway B, so they will both remain closed until possibly Wednesday next week if all goes well and the weather is good. There are barricades and closure markers in place on 13/31 and Twy B. Please check NOTAMs before flying in or out of BRG (or any other airport).

The last update on Belen Runway Maintenance

To all,

Runway 13/31 will close again on the morning of July 31 for 3 days to complete the final striping and reflective material. Runway 3/21 will remain open except when the contractors are striping near the intersection of the runways, possibly for a few hours. Please continue to check NOTAMS. I will send another update when 13/31 reopens.

Thank you,

John Thompson, C.M.
