Subject: Transmission lines at E80/KBRG

This Wednesday, September 19th, Western Spirit Pipeline will be making a presentation to the Valencia County Commission on putting in a huge power line. The poles are expected to be 150 ft high, and 1500 ft from the end of 31. This would be a danger to anyone flying into or out of Belen on this runway. The FAA won't intervene, so the more folks we can get to the meeting to protest, the better off we will be.

The meeting will be at 5:00, Valencia County Commission Chambers, 444 Luna Ave. Los Lunas NM 87031. If you cannot come to the meeting, please contact the County Commissioners to protest this power line.

Their contact information can be found at this address: [url=https://www.co.valencia.nm.us/240/Board-of-County-Commissioners] https://www.co.valencia.nm.us/240/Board-of-County-Commissioners

Just in from John Thompson, new Belen Airport Manager, transferred from Taos.

To all,
Here is the web link to Western Spirit Transmission for this project: https://westernspirittransmission.com/project-overview/

I pulled this up on Google Earth for a little better perspective on distance from the Belen Airport property. It appears the lines will be about 1.45 miles straight off the departure end of 21 and about 1.3 miles off the departure end of 31, rather than the 1500 ft. that I was originally told. Still, this is not ideal for us and farther from the airport would be safer. Anyone able to attend the County Commission Meeting on Sept. 19 (Wednesday), I encourage you to do so.

Thanks,
John Thompson
