Weird and Scenic NM, #10 The Vents

Just north of San Ysidro, and east of NM 550 are a north/south line of about 20 holes at the base of mountain. Local pilots call them "The Vents", because that is what they look like.
They are big holes, 70 ft across and by my eyeball estimates about 70 ft deep. A couple are filled with water. One lies in a back corner of a canyon has a beautiful green pool that burps about once a minute.

Tbe Vents are on Zia Indian land, so they are off limits to hiking, but a similar series of vent holes and springs are in the Ojito area south of NM 550 which is open to the public.

I flew back to the vents in July and shot a video of the area from my trike. It's on YouTube here. Check it out.

Very nice! I have often flown over (much higher!) and been curious about these formations. Do you know anything about the geology?
